Mumbai: Metro lines 2A and 7 see 10 lakh travellers in a week

The two new lines of Mumbai Metro Yellow Line 2A and Red Line 7 had over a million commuters travelling within a week of its inauguration. “Since the inauguration of phase 2, more than 10 lakh commuters have used Metro Line 2A & 7. Both lines are fully operational now and are connected with Metro line 1, creating the first Metro network in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region. Also, because of its easy connectivity with the railway line through Metro 1, millions of Mumbaikars have benefited from it,” SVR Srinivas, Metropolitan Commissioner, MMRDA, said.

The earlier phase of Metro Line 2A AND 7 had opened last year on April 22 and the overall ridership, Srinivas added, has already crossed the one crore passenger milestone since the first phase was commissioned. Meanwhile, a total of 20,000-plus Mumbai 1 cards have been issued in the city. Mumbai 1 is a common mobility card that can be used in all metros in India and city buses in Mumbai. Commuters can buy Metro, BEST bus tickets etc. using this card.
